Wouldn' want my legacy t' be nothin' but whinin', after all...an' what will my legacy be? A life of takin' things. Stealin'. But never buildin' anything. No real friendships. No lasting loves. And family? Any family that didn' betray me...I ended up betrayin'. No chance t'tell them how sorry I am. No guts t'tell them when I had the chance.

Eventually, one of you mooks is gonna realize not to play poker wit' me--'cause my hand will always win th' pot!

Hasn't been your night, eh, chére? Or maybe it has--considering how often I'm here to rescue you.

This is getting to be a habit. I've lost track, chére, who rescues whom next?

Say to you, homme, what I told the real Wolvie, last we tussled: "Bang, you dead!"

I throw de cards. De cards go boom! End of bad guy. End of story.

IC information.
Character's name: Remy Lebeau
Character's codename: Gambit
Character's age: 24
PB: Luke Grimes
Power/Ability: [Edited from Wikipedia] Gambit's primary ability is the manipulation of energy. He uses the bio-kinetic energy his body produces to convert the potential energy of non-organic matter into kinetic energy. The conversion process, referred to as charging, often results in a violent and powerful explosion. The explosion is proportional to the size of the object. He can also charge an object using his mind rather than through physical contact, but this takes more focus. Because energy charges his body, Gambit has greater strength, stamina and agility than any non-powered human.

At his full power, Gambit is able to charge any organic or non-organic matter within his line of sight through thought. The failure to control his abilities in his youth forced him to turn to Mister Sinister, who excised the portion of his brain stem responsible for his full abilities. With access to his full power, Gambit is able to manipulate the potency of his bio-kinetic energy to burn, cause molecular discomfort, incinerate and create timed detonations. Gambit is also able to heal himself by stimulating his cellular activity, although this ability has only been demonstrated once.

He also possesses a hypnotic charm that allows him to exert a subtle influence over sentient beings, leading them to believe what he says and agree with his suggestions. This charm is so powerful if given a chance, Gambit could charm the Shadow King. However, the charm does not work on those who know about it.

During combat, Gambit customarily uses a telescopic metal staff. He is extensively trained in martial arts, particularly French kick-boxing or savate. He is an excellent hand-to-hand combatant, utilizing street-fighting techniques and acrobatics. Gambit is a skilled card-thrower, and throws charged playing cards with great accuracy at opponents. He also excels in all aspects of thievery, as he was adopted by the patriarch of a Thieves' Guild.

Gambit is fluent in various languages, primarily English and Cajun French, which he uses most often.
Affiliation: No Affiliation/Thieves Guild
History: From the moment of his birth, it was clear little Remy was not going to be your average little boy. Abandoned by his birth family for his demonic looking eyes, the infant was soon kidnapped from the hospital, a job hired out to the Thieves Guild by the Antiquary. The man, as his name suggests, collected most all things, though his favourite collectible by far was children, and little Remy was a valuable commodity indeed. The Guild Prophecies, with which the Antiquary was obsessed, mentioned that a red-eyed man, the Diable Blanc, would be the one to reunite the Guilds and bring about heaven on earth. Consequently, he put pressure on the Thieves' Guild to kidnap him for him. Because of his political sway, Jean-Luc LeBeau, the Guildmaster, had no choice but to acquiesce. Refusing would have meant an internal split in his organization.

Still, with the the Antiquary's less then favourable reputation with his collection of children, Jean-Luc did not feel right keeping the boy there, and before the boy was six years old he had been kidnapped again, placed with a group of street thieves, mainly children, led by a man named Fagan. Here he learned to steal to survive, becoming an excellent pickpocket. At age seven, it was arranged for him to meet, as if by accident, young Bella Donna, daughter of Marius Boudreaux, head of the Assassins Guild. The two became fast friends, and later would grow to be sweethearts. At age ten it was arranged for him to steal the wallet of Jean-Luc, who naturally caught him. Now properly introduced, for what Remy then believed to be the first time, Jean-Luc adopted the boy into his family and into the Thieves Guild.

His powers first manifested in his early teens, Remy keeping them a secret from his friends and family while working to control them With the Thieves Guild his skills were vastly improved, gaining mastery in the art of thieving as well as learned many of his combat skills, such as his mastery of throwing objects and the use of a bo staff. These sills, in addition to his powers, made him one of the most gifted in the guild, in both stealing and fighting.

At age fifteen he was to help his cousin Etienne with his tithing, a ritual which every member must complete to join the Thieves Guild. Etienne was charged with the task of stealing an ancient chalice from Candra (an extremely powerful mutant). However, the pair were caught, and Candra sold the boys to a deformed Mutant called Pig. Pig dealt in child slaves, and planned to sell the cousins to HYDRA as child soldiers.

Using his powers, Remy was able to free them from their holding cell, and the two made a break for it, but Pig was catching up fast. Snatching a playing card which Etienne had dropped, Remy charged it, his first time using his signature move, and with it took out Pig's eye. The boys then jumped from the cliff, Remy later being rescued from the waters by the Guild, while Etienne drowned. Remy, despite doing everything possible, still feels he was responsible for his death.

Seeing their attraction, it was arranged for Remy to wed Belladonna after his eighteenth birthday. As the daughter of the head of the Assassin's Guild their union would bring peace to the feuding tribes. Now seventeen, Remy had to earn his place in the Thieves Guild through the "Tracts of Passage". To do so, he had to steal "L'Etoile du Tricherie" - The Cheating Star, from the daughter of an infamous jewel thief, Genevieve Darceneaux. Accompanying him on this mission as his sponsor was his adopted brother Henri LeBeau. It was decided the easiest way to achieve this feat would be to seduce the girl, a final fling before his marriage, a few short months away.

The plan was successful, and he was able to steal the pendant after spending the night with her. However, after returning to the hotel where Henri was waiting for him, he found him missing, a ransom note in his place. The mutant Sabertooth had been hired to steal the pendant back, and when Remy followed the notes instructions to Notre Dame he found that both Henri and Genevieve had been taken, hanging from the ceiling by ropes. Sabertooth agreed to spare one of them in exchange for the pendant, and Remy had no choice but to save his brother, Genevieve falling to her death.

They eventually returned to New Orleans, and Remy was wed to Bella Donna. However not everyone was happy with this plan, and after the ceremony, Bella Donna's brother Julien challenged Remy to a duel. Defending his family's honor and the marriage, along with outclassing Julien as a fighter and a swordsmen, the duel ended with Remy the winner and his brother-in-law dead.

Though all seemed to agree that Remy had killed Julien in self defense, it was decided that to ensure peace between the guilds Remy should be banished. Agreeing with his family's decision, Remy left New Orlans, the Guild, and his new bride behind. Hoping that his leaving would allow Bella Donna's reputation to remain untarnished, he did not ask her to leave with him, and she in turn, never followed.

From that time, Remy took to wandering the globe, eking out a name for himself as a master thief. He claims to be the best there is, and there are few that would disagree. He has several bank accounts through out the world, though has little urge to spend this fortune, living much the same way he always has. He became well known for stealing from rich criminals, giving the money (or most of it) to the poor. He did make some major purchases, including a rarely lived in home in New Orleans' French Quarter. He's spent time in Japan, England, Canada and many more, romancing dozen of ladies and cheat hundreds of men out of their money. He even spent some time in a South American prison, though he could have left whenever he wished, able to remove the chains and wrist cuffs at will.

Eventually his mutant ability to charge matter with kinetic energy became so powerful that he was unable to control it. An acquaintance of his introduced him to Sinister, suggesting that the scientist could help Gambit. Unfortunately, Sinister, although successful in getting Gambit's powers under control through brain surgery, demanded a terrible price in return for his services. At first, he was charged with stealing certain items for Sinister, an arrangement which worked well enough. But shortly after he was instructed to gather a group of mercenaries for him, who would be known as the Marauders.

His sense of honor lead him to feel it was necessary to repay Sinister, forcing him to temporarily overlook the very criminal nature of the mercenaries he was gathering. Debt was repaid, Sinister gave him a silver vial, which probably contained whatever he had removed from Gambit to dampen his powers. Although he speculated it would mean some illegal activity, he really knew nothing about Sinister's real plans and didn't want to know any more than he did. Contract finished, Gambit was to leave, when Sinister asked him to do one more thing, offering him something he couldn't refuse.

His task was lead the Marauders into the Morlock tunnels. Remy believed this was a heist and nothing more, but had a bad feeling about the mission, which he tried to suppress. The Marauders began to massacre the Morlock's, men, women and children alike, and Remy was horrified trying to stop them. Sabertooth attacked him, leaving him for dead, but Remy was able to escape, saving one of the Morlock children, a young girl named Sarah. Gambit was sickened, both physically and mentally, by the Morlock Massacre and after that he has spent much time trying to make up for his mistake.

Character Location: Officially- New Orleans, but his nature leads him to wander the globe pretty often. New York, LA, London, and Japan are favourites of his.
Character Physical Description: Gambit has spunky, chestnut coloured hair, that often seems to defy gravity. Tall, and with a slim but athletic build, Remy is ideally suited to a life to thievery, light on his feet, and quick to escape into the night.

His eyes are his most striking features, black where they should be white, with red irises, which seem to glow when using his powers.
Character Personality: Remy Lebeau has always been a promiscuous little thing. He lives life to the fullest, taking advantage of life's simplest pleasures. For Remy, stealing isn't about money, it's about the thrill, about the challenge. He has proven himself to be the best, and this is a title he must defend. He has a very strong sense of honor, and a debt, once owed, will always be repaid. This only applies in instances of metaphorical debt of course. What is money after all, but bits of paper, and made up numbers? Like a leaf on the wind, Remy has never been good at staying in one place.

He is fiercely self reliant, and it is hard to get him to accept help. He is surprisingly uninterested when it comes to most creature comforts, much preferring to make his own way. When he feels like it he can be quite generous, and in fact, most of his money goes to the poor. He finds they too are far more willing to believe he has money then the average person on the street. He has on many occasions passed out checks without batting an eye, only to see them thrown away. This amuses him to no end, and they are so judgmental that they can't fathom it being real then they don't deserve the money, do they?
